MARYVILLE, Mo. - A hot-shooting Northwest Missouri squad handed the Lincoln men's basketball team a 96-49 loss on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8).
The Bearcats, ranked No. 1 in the country in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II poll, lived up to that rating on Saturday, making more than half of their shot attempts from the floor (.538), from three-point land (.519) and at the line (.923). The Blue Tigers shot .800 at the charity stripe, but Northwest Missouri (22-1, 12-1 MIAA) held LU to just .373 shooting on the afternoon.
Lincoln (8-14, 5-8 MIAA) was led offensively by
Cameron Potts with 14 points and
Jonell Burton with 12. Potts also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and recorded two steals and an assist. Burton blocked a shot and grabbed four rebounds.
Zack Fields was next on the scoring list with seven points and four boards, and
Joe Davis came off the bench to supply six points while
Marcus Cohen scored four to go with four rebounds.
L'Kielynn Taylor contributed two points, a pair of rebounds, an assist, a takeaway and a block to the Blue Tiger cause.
Jordan Notch and
Marcel Burton each finished with two points, with Notch also grabbing a rebound, and
Bansi King had an assist while
DJ Ward pulled down a rebound.
Lamont Ballard, Jr. also had a board on Saturday.
Lincoln will return home to Jason Gym to host Nebraska Kearney on Thursday (Feb. 8) at 7:30 p.m. CST.
