Jonell Burton led Lincoln with 10 points and
L'Kielynn Taylor grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Lincoln men's basketball team fell to Washburn, 75-50, on Wednesday (Jan. 29).
Jonell Burton also supplied three assists, three rebounds and a block, while Taylor had three points, three steals and a pair of assists.
Lamont Ballard, Jr. also had three steals to go with nine points, and
Alafia Oluwasogo added six points and three boards.
Hot three-point shooting and a stifling defense were the keys for Washburn (12-7, 7-3 MIAA), as the each of the Ichabods' first six buckets of the game came from beyond the arc. Lincoln (7-12, 4-6 MIAA) was held to just .339 shooting overall and .240 from long distance, while WU made 12 treys on the evening.
Cameron Potts had four points, six boards and two assists on the night, and
DJ Ward scored six points on 2-for-3 shooting from long range.
Joe Davis and
Jordan Notch each contributed four points and two rebounds, with Davis also dishing an assist, and
Bansi King finished with three points.
Marcel Burton made a free throw to cap off the scoring and tallied three rebounds and a steal.
Zack Fields grabbed a pair of rebounds,
Marcus Cohen had two blocks and two assists and
DaMani Jarrett blocked a shot to go with two boards.
Lincoln will be back at Jason Gym on Saturday (Feb. 1) as the Blue Tigers host Emporia State at 3:00 p.m. CST.
