CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Lincoln women's basketball team out-rebounded Rogers State, 42-34, but the Hillcats prevailed, 99-75, on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25).
Virja Lewis had a career day, tallying season highs in scoring (24 points) and rebounds (10) while also blocking a shot.
Kyessence Collins finished second on the scoring chart with 13 points, four assists and three boards, and
Natasha Elliott added 12 points and four rebounds to the Lincoln cause.
Rogers State (3-17, 1-10 MIAA) had one of its best shooting nights of the season, firing at a .574 clip from the filed while making 13 of its 23 tries from three-point land (.565). Lincoln (3-15, 0-9 MIAA) shot .405 from the floor, including making four shots from long distance. Both teams committed 14 turnovers, but RSU capitalized on the LU miscues for 23 points.
Kaloni Pryear was held to less than 10 points for the first time all season, as she finished the day with nine points, four boards, two assists and a pair of steals.
Natasha Dolinsky contributed seven points and two assists, and
Kiara Shoulders had four points and four rebounds to go with two dimes and a block.
Vivian Chigbu,
Alecia Gulledge and
Nia McCaskill all had two points apiece, with Chigbu also grabbing seven rebounds. Gulledge collected two rebounds while McCaskill had a rebound and a steal.
Lincoln will be back at home for its next two games, starting on Wednesday (Jan. 29), when the Blue Tigers host Washburn at 5:30 p.m. CST.
