LU Falls to NSU on Thursday Evening


TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - For the second-straight game, and the sixth time in 2019-20, Vivian Chigbu posted a double-double, but the Lincoln women's basketball team dropped a 67-47 decision to Northeastern State on Thursday (Jan. 23).

Chigbu, who chipped in 11 points while grabbing 13 rebounds, is now tied with Belle Barbieri of Fort Hays State for the most double-doubles by an MIAA player this season. Chigbu also had an assist and a steal on Thursday evening.

Kaloni Pryear led Lincoln with 13 points and Kyessence Collins added 11. Pryear additionally tallied three rebounds, a block and a steal, and Collins dished two assists. Alecia Gulledge, meanwhile, finished with six points, six boards and a pair of steals.

Lincoln (3-14, 0-8 MIAA) fell behind 12-2 in the opening quarter, Chigbu hit a jumper and later made a free throw to jump start the Blue Tiger offense onto a 9-1 run to pull within 13-11. LU would trail Northeastern State (5-12, 3-7 MIAA) by three after the first 10 minutes, and was down just 26-22 heading into halftime.

The RiverHawks began to pull away in the third period, ending the quarter on an 11-4 run to go up, 47-37, entering the fourth. NSU held LU to just 10 points over the final 10 minutes, capping a defensive performance in which Lincoln was held to just one made three-pointer and .365 shooting overall. Lincoln, meanwhile, limited the RiverHawks to just a pair of treys, but NSU shot .434 overall and .792 at the line.

Virja Lewis provided four points and two rebounds, and Natasha Dolinsky dished four assists to go with two points and a pair of rebounds. Natasha Elliott had an assist and a block, Kiara Shoulders notched a steal and Nia McCaskill pulled down two rebounds while Vedrana Radosavljevic had one.

The Blue Tigers will remain in Oklahoma this weekend, traveling to Claremore on Saturday (Jan. 25) to play Rogers State at 2:00 p.m. CST.
