JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln softball team dropped a double-header to Drury in its final home games of 2019 on Tuesday (April 16). The Blue Tigers fell in the first game, 6-1, and dropped the second, 14-2.
All of Drury's runs in the opener came in the first two innings, but the Blue Tigers pitched a shutout through the final five frames.
Trista Heavin entered the game in the third inning and allowed just one hit through those last five innings. Heavin and
Jordan Lawson both had strikeouts inside the circle.
Camryn Pryor and
Gabi McGinty each had hits, with Pryor driving in Lawson on a double in the bottom of the fifth. Pryor also led the LU defense with six putouts while
Bekah Kirker made four and Lawson and
Paige Parker each had three.
Mykenzie Livesay and
Tori Nienhueser each turned two assists.
In the second game, Drury (31-14) took control of the contest early with eight runs in the opening frame. Lincoln (4-42) got on the board in the third inning, with Heavin hitting a lead-off single followed by a double from Lawson. A ground-out from Pryor allowed Heavin to score, and a sacrifice fly by
Rachael Balke brought in Lawson.
Lawson fanned two Panther batters as the game's reliever, and Pryor, Heavin and
Emily Williams all had three putouts in the contest. Kirker led LU with three assists.
The Blue Tigers will be off until Friday, April 26, when Lincoln travels to Warrensburg, Mo. for a 3:00 p.m. CDT double-header against Central Missouri.
