ST. CHARLES, Mo. -
Camryn Pryor continued her hot streak, collecting three more hits on Saturday (April 13), but the Lincoln softball team fell to Lindenwood in a non-conference double-header. The Blue Tigers dropped the first game on Saturday, 8-0, and fell in the second game, 11-3.
Pryor, who had five hits against Lindenwood in a twinbill in Jefferson City on Friday (April 12), added three more hits on Saturday, including two in the second contest of the afternoon. Pryor's first hit of that game moved
Jordan Lawson, who reached via a walk, to third base in the top of the first inning.
Rachael Balke later hit a single into center field to score Lawson, giving Lincoln a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Tigers later increased their lead to two as Balke scored on a base hit by
Emily Williams, but Lindenwood answered with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first to take its first lead of the contest. The Lady Lions held the Blue Tigers off the board until the fifth inning, when Lawson scored for the second time on a single from
Mykenzie Livesay.
Tori Nienhueser and
Trista Heavin also had hits for Lincoln, and Pryor and Balke each finished with four putouts on defense. Nienhueser provided three assists while Livesay contributed two.
In the first game on Saturday, Lincoln (4-40) limited Lindenwood (24-14) to just one run through the first three innings, but the Lady Lions used a six-run fourth inning to take control of the game. Lincoln had at least one base-runner in every frame, including two in the third, when Balke and Pryor each reached scoring position after tallying base hits.
Gabi McGinty and
Bekah Kirker also had hits, and
Shannon Greene notched a strikeout in the circle. Lawson and Pryor made three putouts apiece, and Livesay had a pair of assists.
Up next for Lincoln are the final home games of 2019, as the Blue Tigers welcome Drury to LU Softball Field on Tuesday (April 16) for a 1:00 p.m. CDT double-header.
