JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -
Bre Coleman and
Zhanesha Dickerson each posted double-doubles, and
Kaloni Pryear and
Zoi Thompson both finished in double figures, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Washburn, 80-70, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 23).
Coleman and Dickerson each scored 21 points, with Coleman grabbing 13 rebounds to go with a steal and an assist. Dickerson had three blocks and a steal and also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Lincoln (10-16, 2-15 MIAA) trailed by 10 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 14-6 run to pull within 42-40 on a Pryear jumper with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter. Washburn (18-8, 13-4 MIAA) stopped the run with an old-fashioned three-point play, and LU got back within three on two occasions before the Ichabods finished the period with a 53-47 lead.
The Blue Tigers were still within six before Washburn used a 7-2 run to take a double-digit lead with 2:49 to play. Lincoln wasn't ready to call it a day, however, as Dickerson hit a pair of treys at the line and LU took advantage of several missed free throws by the Ichabods to get as close as 74-70 in the final minute.
Pryear had 15 points and five boards while Thompson finished her day with 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Alecia Gulledge grabbed five boards, and
Kiara Shoulders chipped in two points while tallying four rebounds and an assist.
Lincoln will open the final week of the season at home on Wednesday (Feb. 27) by hosting Southwest Baptist in a 5:30 p.m. CST contest.
