Complete Google Cloud Academic All-District Team
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Senior guard
Grant Olsson of the Lincoln men's basketball team has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District first team. CoSIDA announced the honors, which were voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America in each district, on Thursday (Feb. 21).
Olsson, a physics major with a 4.0 grade point average, has started 24 of Lincoln's 25 games and has helped Lincoln win 16 games, including nine MIAA contests. Olsson is averaging 10.4 points and 4.0 rebounds, and has dished 21 assists to go with eight steals and five blocks. Olsson has scored in double figures in 14 games this season, with a career-high 24 points against Fort Hays State, and has collected at least four rebounds in five of the last six games.
This is the second time a member of LU men's basketball team has made the Google Cloud Academic All-District first team. Olsson joins Joshua Buie, who was recognized in 2015, as Blue Tiger honorees.
Olsson joins Jakob Lowrance of Central Missouri as the only two MIAA players on the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 first team. Also honored were Kevin Buckingham of Southwestern Oklahoma State; Kevin Krieger of Minnesota State-Mankato; and Brindley Theisen of St. Cloud State.
With his selection to the all-district first team, Olsson will now be eligible for the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American team, which will be released later this season.
Olsson and the Blue Tigers are home on Saturday (Feb. 23), hosting Washburn at 3:00 p.m. CST.
