JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Hot shooting and a strong advantage on the glass led to Lindenwood beating the Lincoln women's basketball team, 86-63, on Tuesday evening (Feb. 19).
Lindenwood (18-5, 12-4 MIAA) shot .526 from the floor and held a 47-24 advantage in rebounding while holding Lincoln (10-15, 2-14 MIAA) to just .373 shooting overall. The Blue Tigers forced Lindenwood into 24 turnovers and blocked three shots, with four Lincoln players scoring in double figures.
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 14-4 lead, but Lincoln rallied to close the gap down to 17-14 on a
Zoi Thompson layup with two minutes to play in the opening quarter. The Lady Lions ended up taking a seven point lead at the end of the first 10 minutes, then out-scored Lincoln, 22-12, in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Zhanesha Dickerson filled up the stat sheet with 23 points, five rebounds, two blocks, a pair of steals and an assist. Thompson,
Bre Coleman and
Kaloni Pryear all finished with 11 points, with Thompson additionally dishing six assists and collecting two steals. Coleman had a pair of rebounds and two steals, and Pryear dished four assists to go with three boards.
Kiara Shoulders led Lincoln with seven rebounds and had a block and a steal while scoring four points.
Nia McCaskill closed the scoring with three points, two boards and an assist.
Alecia Gulledge also represented the Blue Tigers on the court with a rebound.
Lincoln will remain at home on Saturday (Feb. 23) to host Washburn in a 1:00 p.m. CST contest.
