Blue Tigers Roar to a Second-Straight Win

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team beat Eureka, 84-75, on Thursday (Dec. 19) to end the 2019 calendar year with a second-straight victory.

The Blue Tigers posted a 50-38 advantage in rebounding, forced the Red Devils into 20 turnovers and scored 23 second-chance points as Lincoln finished with 84 total points for the second-straight contest. Lincoln also turned EC's turnovers into 22 points, and LU shot .407 from the floor and .714 from beyond the arc while tallying 10 steals.

Kaloni Pryear led Lincoln (3-8) with 21 points while Vivian Chigbu turned in her fourth double-double of the 2019-20 season by notching 19 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Vedrana Radosavljevic had eight rebounds and four points, and Virja Lewis scored eight points to go with four boards.

Eureka (6-4) opened the game on a 7-0 run, but Lincoln rallied with seven-straight points of its own, tying the contest on a trey by Natasha Dolinsky. The Red Devils would end up going back on top by as many as five with 2:42 left in the opening stanza, but LU ended the period on a 9-0 run, capped off by a buzzer-beating three from Dolinsky for a 19-15 Blue Tiger lead. Dolinsky ended the day with six points, four boards and an assist.

Lincoln led by as many as eight in the second quarter, though Eureka rallied to make it a four-point game at halftime. The Blue Tigers began to pull away in the second half, however, holding a double-digit lead for much of the third quarter while preventing EC from getting closer than within the five the rest of the game.

Kyessence Collins led LU with four assists, grabbed four rebounds and chipped in three points to go with a steal. Alecia Gulledge added six points and a team-high four steals to the winning cause, and Natasha Elliott recorded nine points and seven rebounds. Kiara Shoulders dished three assists, and Nia McCaskill contributed eight points, four rebounds and two assists.

Lincoln will be off for the rest of December before returning to action on Jan. 4 with a 1:00 p.m. CST game in Wichita, Kan. against Newman.
