Vivian Chigbu and
Kaloni Pryear each scored 13 points as the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Newman, 82-46, in its first game of 2020 on Saturday (Jan. 4).
Chigbu also had a team-high seven rebounds to go with a block, a steal and an assist, and Pryear tied
Alecia Gulledge with four steals while grabbing two rebounds and dishing two assists. Gulledge, meanwhile, finished with five points and four boards.
Newman (7-6, 2-2 MIAA) made 50-percent of its attempts from three-point range and shot .850 at the line to hand the Blue Tigers a loss in their first road conference game of the 2019-20 season. Lincoln (3-9, 0-3 MIAA) shot .345 overall and forced the Jets into 23 turnovers, but made just one trey on the afternoon.
Kiara Shoulders matched Gulledge with five points and four rebounds, and
Nia McCaskill and
Kyessence Collins each chipped in four points apiece. McCaskill additionally supplied three rebounds, and Collins led LU with five assists.
Virja Lewis closed the scoring for Lincoln with two points, four boards and a steal.
Natasha Dolinsky had two rebounds and a pair of assists for the Blue Tigers, and
Natasha Elliott came off the bench to grab two rebounds.
Lincoln will next travel to Edmond, Okla. on Monday (Jan. 6) to play Central Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m. CST.
