QUINCY, Ill. - The Lincoln men's basketball team nearly completed a late 19-point rally, but fell just short as the Blue Tigers dropped a 90-84 decision to Quincy on Sunday (Dec. 15).
With 4:14 remaining, Lincoln faced an 86-67 deficit, but
Lamont Ballard, Jr. started LU's comeback bid by hitting a trey. That sparked a 15-0 Blue Tiger run, as Ballard hit two more treys,
Jordan Notch drained a three and
Jonell Burton converted an old-fashioned three-point play to bring Lincoln to within 86-82.
Quincy (5-4) hit four free throws down the stretch to end the run, and a layup by
Marcus Cohen made it a six-point contest in the final seconds. Lincoln (3-7) shot .563 from three-point range in the second half and drained 16 treys in the contest, with Ballard making six of those buckets. Ballard led the Blue Tigers with 21 points while
L'Kielynn Taylor had five rebounds to go with two points.
Jonell Burton,
Marcel Burton and
Bansi King each scored 12 points, with
Jonell Burton also tallying two assists, a block and a steal.
Marcel Burton had three rebounds and King grabbed two boards while
Alafia Oluwasogo supplied seven points, a block and four rebounds. Notch also scored seven points and added a block, a steal and two rebounds.
Cameron Potts dished a team-high six assists and led LU with six rebounds while chipping in four points and notch two steals. Cohen finished with four points, four boards, five assists and three steals, and
DaMani Jarrett contributed two points and a rebound.
Zack Fields dished two assists while
