Blue Tigers Win in 2019 Finale, 88-73


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team ended 2019 with a bang, with five players scoring in double figures en route to an 88-73 victory over Culver-Stockton on Wednesday night (Dec. 18).

Cameron Potts doubled up with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, and Alafia Oluwasogo led the Blue Tigers with 15 points while tallying four rebounds and two assists. Jonell Burton had a team-high three steals to go with 13 points and four boards, while L'Kielynn matched Potts with 10 points while dishing five assists and grabbing six rebounds.

At one point late in the first quarter, Lincoln (4-7) was shooting .696 from the field, and the Blue Tigers ended the game with 33 shots made in 66 attempts. Lincoln won the rebounding battle, 40-32, and forced Culver-Stockton (3-9) into 13 turnovers while notching seven steals. One of those takeaways belonged to Lamont Ballard, Jr., who also scored six points.

Bansi King rounded out Lincoln's double-digit scorers with 12 points and two boards, and Marcel Burton added eight points, four rebounds and three assists. Joe Davis also scored six points and Jordan Notch chipped in four while pulling down three rebounds. Marcus Cohen, meanwhile, scored four points, tallied four rebounds and dished five assists.

Zack Fields had a rebound while DJ Ward and DaMani Jarrett also represented LU on the court in the victory.

Lincoln will now take a break for the holiday season and return to action in 17 days, as the Blue Tigers resume MIAA play on Saturday, Jan. 4 when LU travels to Wichita, Kan. to play Newman. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST.
