Kaloni Pryear scored a game-high 18 points and
Kiara Shoulders added 17, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell in its 2019-20 season opener, 70-57, on Friday (Nov. 8).
Pryear also grabbed five rebounds, dished two assists and recorded three steals while Shoulders finished with seven boards and two takeaways.
Vivian Chigbu led all players with 14 rebounds and scored eight points to go with three assists, a block and a steal.
Lincoln had the hotter shooting night, going .381 from the floor and .300 from beyond the arc while holding the Lady Muleriders to .266 shooting overall and .250 from three-point land. The rebounding was fairly even, with SAU holding a slight 52-50 advantage, but LU turned the ball over 36 times, leading to 33 points for Southern Arkansas.
Natasha Dolinsky was next on the scoring chart with five points, three assists, three boards and two steals, and
Anna Munoz Vidueira added four points, a block, an assist and a pair of rebounds.
Natasha Elliott led LU with four assists and pulled down three rebounds to go with a steal and two points.
Virja Lewis, who ended the night with five boards, also contributed two points.
Nia McCaskill made a free throw to close out the scoring, and
Vedrana Radosavljevic had three rebounds.
Lincoln will next play Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday (Nov. 9), with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST.
