Blue Tigers Roar Past Miners for a 66-55 Road Win

ROLLA, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team took advantage of a big first half to defeat Missouri S&T, 66-55, in its first road game of 2019-20 on Wednesday evening (Nov. 13).

Cameron Potts came one rebound short of a triple-double, finishing with 15 points, 10 assists and nine boards. Jonell Burton had a team-high 17 points and four rebounds while Marcel Burton added 12 points and seven rebounds. Lamont Ballard, Jr. also finished in double-figures, collecting 10 points, two boards and a steal.

Lincoln (2-1) shot .516 from the floor in a first half in which the Blue Tigers out-scored the Miners, 35-17. The Blue Tigers scored the game's first six points and held a 27-9 advantage over Missouri S&T (0-1) with 5:56 until halftime.

The Blue Tigers built their lead up to 42-21 after an old-fashioned three-point play by Potts with 16:49 remaining, but a 17-1 run by the Miners made it a 43-38 game at the 10:54 mark. Missouri S&T closed the gap down to two with just over five minutes to play, but Jonell Burton scored the next four points of the contest to spring LU onto a 15-6 run to close out the win.

Jordan Notch provided six points, six boards and a block to the Lincoln effort, and Bansi King, DaMani Jarrett and Joe Davis each tallied two points and two rebounds. Lincoln out-rebounded Missouri S&T, 43-39, and held the Miners to just .250 shooting from three-point range.

Lincoln will take the court at Jason Gym on Monday night (Nov. 18) for an exhibition game against Livin' the Dream at 6:30 p.m. CST.
