Shannyn Triplett scored 16 points and
Zhanesha Dickerson added 12 as the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Lindenwood, 69-46, on Sunday evening (Jan. 13).
Dickerson additionally recorded five rebounds, three assists and three steals while Triplett finished with three boards and a pair of takeaways.
Bre Coleman was Lincoln's next-leading scorer, tallying eight points, three rebounds and a block.
The game was close through the first quarter, with Lindenwood (11-1, 5-0 MIAA) ending the period with a 15-12 lead, but the Lady Lions pulled away in the second quarter, out-scoring Lincoln (9-5, 1-4 MIAA) 19-6 for a 34-18 halftime advantage. The Blue Tigers out-gained Lindenwood, 16-13, in the third period, but were unable to complete the comeback.
Lincoln limited the Lady Lions to .345 shooting from three-point range, but Lindenwood got the better of the defensive match-up, holding the Blue Tigers to .254 shooting overall and .231 from long distance. The Blue Tigers battled injuries and foul trouble throughout the matchup, and fielded just four players on the court during the contest's final minute.
Zoi Thompson added six points while
Alecia Gulledge rounded out the scoring with four points to go with a team-high 12 rebounds. Gulledge also had two blocks, two steals and an assist for the Blue Tigers.
Kiara Shoulders provided five boards and a pair of takeaways, and
Tempary Gunter contributed a steal.
Lincoln next plays on Wednesday (Jan. 16) as the Blue Tigers travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on Central Missouri at 5:30 p.m. CST.
