Blue Tigers Drop Two at Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Mykenzie Livesay had three hits, but the Lincoln softball team dropped a pair of games to Lindenwood on Thursday evening (April 5). Lindenwood won the first game, 12-4, and took the second, 7-0.

In the opener, Livesay went for 2-for-2 at the plate while Kiley Kerr and Rachael Balke accounted for the rest of LU's four hits. Livesay also scored a pair of runs, including one in the third inning when she came home on a throwing error by the Lady Lions.

That run cut the Lindenwood (18-18, 7-11 MIAA) lead down to 3-1, but the Lady Lions brought in two scores in the fourth inning to regain a four-run advantage. Lincoln (5-31, 0-18 MIAA) got back on the board in the fifth, as Kiley Kerr's triple plated both Livesay and Alyssa Schulte to pull LU to within two. Balke then hit a double to score Kiley Kerr, cutting the deficit down to 5-4.

Lindenwood pulled away in the bottom half of the fifth, however, as the Lady Lions scored six runs on six hits and an error to take control of the ballgame. The Lady Lions then ended the game in six frames on a walk-off RBI single. Delayne Patton had a strikeout in the circle, and Tori Nienhueser and Kiley Kerr each had three putouts with Nienhueser also tallying two assists.

A six-run inning was also the difference in the nightcap, as Lindenwood drove in that many runs in the bottom of the third to break a scoreless tie and take a commanding lead. A sacrifice fly led to the other run of the game while the Blue Tigers stranded three base-runners in the contest.

Livesay, Chelsey Kerr, Jordan Lawson and Andrea Wanta each had a hit for LU in the second game of Thursday's double-header, and Madison Ragar struck out two Lindenwood batters. Camryn Pryor led the Blue Tiger defense with six putouts while Lawson was next with five. Livesay added three assists, followed by Nienhueser and Ragar with two apiece.

Due to poor weather conditions, Lincoln's next scheduled games will be on Tuesday (April 10) when the Blue Tigers travel to Springfield, Mo. to play Drury in a 2:00 p.m. CDT double-header.
