EDMOND, Okla. - The Lincoln softball team fell to Central Oklahoma in a pair of contests on Saturday afternoon (March 31). The Blue Tigers dropped game one, 7-2, and lost the second contest, 8-0.
Both of LU's runs in the opener came in the fifth inning on doubles by
Kiley Kerr and
Jordan Lawson. A double by
Mykenzie Livesay started off the frame, and Kerr brought her home to cut the UCO lead to 6-1. After a walk was issued to
Rachael Balke, Lawson made it a 6-2 ballgame with her double to drive in Kerr.
Central Oklahoma (23-14, 12-4 MIAA) took control of the game early by scoring four runs in the second inning after a plating a run in the opening frame. UCO also drove in scores in the fourth and fifth innings to earn the five-run win.
Lawson led Lincoln (5-29, 0-16 MIAA) with two hits in the opener, and
Delayne Patton had a strikeout in a complete-game performance in the circle. Kerr and
Camryn Pryor each had five putouts while
Alyssa Schulte tallied four assists.
In the nightcap, UCO again scored four times in the second inning and added two scores in both the first and fourth frames to take the contest, 8-0. Lawson had the only hit of the ballgame for LU while pitcher
Madison Ragar notched a strikeout. Lawson and Pryor each made three putouts while
Tori Nienhueser and Livesay each tallied an assist.
The Blue Tigers will return home on Wednesday (April 4) to step out of MIAA play for a double-header against William Jewell. First pitch from LU Softball Field is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CDT.
