JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Good pitching and a staunch defense were too much for the Lincoln softball team to overcome as the Blue Tigers dropped a pair of games to Washburn on a rainy Friday afternoon (March 23). The Ichabods beat LU in the first game, 8-0, before taking the second, 12-0.
Washburn (22-7, 7-1 MIAA) finished the day with 15 strikeouts and held the Blue Tigers to just a pair of hits.
Andrea Wanta and
Mykenzie Livesay represented the Lincoln (3-23, 0-10 MIAA) offense, as the Blue Tigers stranded five total base-runners on the afternoon.
Camryn Pryor led the Blue Tigers with a combined 10 putouts on the day, with
Jordan Lawson next at eight putouts in left field.
Tori Nienhueser and Livesay each had three assists, and
Alyssa Schulte was next with two. Schulte and
Delayne Patton each notched a strikeout inside the circle.
The Blue Tigers will be back at home on Saturday (March 24) to host Emporia State in a 1:00 p.m. CDT double-header.
