Blue Tigers Drop Non-Conference Double-Header

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Jordan Lawson and Rachael Balke each had multiple-hit performances, but the Lincoln softball team dropped a pair of games to Truman State on Wednesday afternoon (March 21). The Blue Tigers lost the first game, 8-1, and fell in the second, 6-1.

In the opener, Lawson went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored the Blue Tigers' only run on a double by Tori Nienhueser. That came in the fourth inning to cut the Bulldog lead to 4-1, but TSU added four more scores afterward and ended the contest with 12 hits.

Madison Ragar notched two strikeouts in a complete game performance, and Camryn Pryor led LU with six putouts. Nienhueser had a pair of assists.

The second game featured more offense by Lincoln (3-21), as the Blue Tigers finished with six hits compared to nine for Truman State (11-7). The Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch in the second, but that was the only run of the ballgame until the fourth inning, when TSU plated three more runs on three hits and an LU error. Alyssa Schulte got the Blue Tigers on the scoreboard in the fifth by leading the frame off with a homerun.

Balke had two hits while Nienhueser, Kiley Kerr and Emily Williams each had one apiece. Delayne Patton rang up three strikeouts in the circle, and Balke and Schulte each had four putouts in the field. Williams led LU with two assists.

Lincoln will be back home at LU Softball Field on Friday (March 23) to resume MIAA play with a double-header against Washburn. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CDT.
