ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Missouri Western scored 21 fourth quarter points to hand the Lincoln women's basketball team a 57-44 loss on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3).
Lajanea Kimbrough led the Blue Tigers with 12 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals.
Citlali Lopez scored seven points and also had five rebounds and a pair of takeaways while
Faith Brintle chipped in seven points and led LU with three assists.
It was a close contest through the first three quarters, with Missouri Western (11-11, 4-9 MIAA) holding four point leads of 14-10 after the first quarter, 27-23 at halftime and 36-32 entering the final period. Lincoln (3-19, 0-14 MIAA) turned the ball over just nine times while forcing MWSU into 17 turnovers, and held the Griffons to just .267 shooting from three-point range.
The fourth quarter was a different matter, however, as Missouri Western out-scored Lincoln, 21-12, over the final 10 minutes. Missouri Western also out-rebounded Lincoln, 43-27, on the afternoon and held the Blue Tigers to .305 shooting overall.
Kailey Foster and
Tyler Brown-Henderson each finished with six points, and
Amber Braxton tallied four to go with three rebounds.
Bre Coleman had five boards, two points, a pair of assists, a block and a steal, and
Charnai Anderson and
Davenport Brantley each came off the bench to provide assists.
Lincoln will play its final road game of 2017-18 next Saturday (Feb. 10) when the Blue Tigers travel to St. Charles, Mo. to take on Lindenwood in a 1:30 p.m. CST showdown.
