Bre Coleman recorded her seventh double-double of the season and
Faith Brintle did not miss a shot all night as the pair combined for 38 points to lead the Lincoln women's basketball team to a 73-62 win over Missouri Western on Thursday night (Feb. 22).
Coleman led all scorers with 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting and led LU with 10 rebounds while notching a pair of steals. Brintle, meanwhile, was 5-for-5 from the floor, 3-for-3 from long distance and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, finishing with 17 points and five assists. The pair were joined in double figures by Tyler Brown Henderson, who recorded 12 points, four boards and three assists, and
Citlali Lopez, who ended the evening with 10 points, three boards, four dimes and four steals.
Lincoln (4-22, 1-17 MIAA) never trailed in the contest, opening a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and shooting .563 from the floor for the contest. Missouri Western (11-16, 4-14 MIAA) rallied in the second quarter to tie the game at 32 at halftime, but the Blue Tigers scored the first four points of the third quarter en route to a 46-41 advantage through three periods. In the fourth quarter, Lincoln made each of its final nine free throw attempts and ended the contest 16-for-19 at the line.
Alecia Kaelke came off the bench to provided six points and four rebounds, and
Lajanea Kimbrough grabbed seven boards to go with three points, two assists and a block.
Kailey Foster closed out the scoring with four points, two rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal, and
Davenport Brantley contributed a rebound to the winning effort.
Lincoln finished the night with a commanding 32-20 advantage in rebounding, and notched eight steals while forcing Missouri Western into 15 turnovers. The Blue Tigers registered an assist on 16 of their 27 made field goals, and five LU players finished the contest with multiple assists.
The Blue Tigers will try to close the season with a win streak, as Lincoln hosts Northwest Missouri in its regular season finale on Saturday (Feb. 24). Lincoln is scheduled to take the court in Jason Gym on Senior Day at 1:30 p.m. CST.
