JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Central Missouri, ranked No. 9 in the country, out-scored the Lincoln women's basketball team by 15 in the first quarter and held on for an 80-55 win over the Blue Tigers on Thursday night (Feb. 15).
The Blue Tigers were paced offensively by
Bre Coleman, who finished with 17 points, and
Faith Brintle, who scored 11. Coleman also tied for the team-lead with five rebounds and dished an assist while Brintle tallied three rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist.
Central Missouri (21-2, 15-1 MIAA) shot .508 for the game, including .600 in the first quarter en route to a 25-10 lead. The Jennies led Lincoln (3-22, 0-17 MIAA) 42-25 at halftime, and scored 23 points in the third quarter to take a 30-point advantage. Lincoln, which scored 20 of its points in the final period, shot .393 from the floor and tied Central Missouri with 34 rebounds, but committed 20 turnovers while forcing UCM into 16.
Lajanea Kimbrough also had five rebounds and scored four points to go with two assists and a pair of steals.
Citlali Lopez led LU with four takeaways, chipped in seven points and dished a pair of assists, and
Davenport Brantley dropped two dimes while registering four points.
Alecia Kaelke and
Tempary Gunter each finished with three points, with Kaelke also providing three boards and a steal.
Tyler Brown-Henderson contributed four points, two rebounds and an assist, and
Kailey Foster rounded out the scoring with two points, three boards and an assist.
Charnai Anderson also represented the Blue Tigers on the court, grabbing a rebound.
Lincoln will begin the final week of the season at home, as the Blue Tigers host Missouri Western next Thursday (Feb. 22) for a 5:30 p.m. CST contest.
