JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team out-scored the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 22-9, in the third quarter en route to a 71-42 victory on Sunday evening (Dec. 30).
Lincoln out-rebounded the Eutectics, 41-26, and forced 23 turnovers while producing 10 steals as the Blue Tigers improved to 9-2 with their second-straight win. LU, playing in its final game of 2018 as well as its last non-conference contest of the season, shot over .600 in the second half and was .468 overall from the floor.
Zoi Thompson led LU offensively with 15 points and six assists, and also had a steal to go with five rebounds.
Alecia Gulledge also finished in double figures, tallying 13 points, three boards, a pair of assists and a steal.
Zhanesha Dickerson led Lincoln with seven rebounds and three blocks, and also scored seven points to go with two assists.
The St. Louis College of Pharmacy (5-8) opened the game on a 7-3 run, but Lincoln scored 14 of the game's next 19 points to take a 17-12 lead after the quarter. Defense controlled the first half, with both teams shooting under .300 in the game's first 20 minutes as LU led just 27-20 at halftime.
The second half was a different story, as Lincoln allowed just three field goals in the third quarter and five in the fourth while scoring 22 points in each period. 40 of LU's points came in the paint, and Lincoln scored 24 off turnovers.
Bre Coleman was next on the scoring chart with nine points and had three steals as well as five rebounds, and
Kaloni Pryear came off the bench to provide eight points and two boards.
Shannyn Triplett also scored eight points and finished with five rebounds while dishing an assist and forcing a steal.
Tempary Gunter contributed five points and four boards to the winning effort, and
Alecia Kaelke added four points and four rebounds.
Kiara Shoulders closed out the Blue Tigers with two points, three boards and a game-high four steals.
Lincoln will try to extend its winning streak into 2019 when the Blue Tigers host Pittsburg State on Thursday (Jan. 3) at 5:30 p.m. CST.
