Blue Tigers Roll to First 5-0 Start in Program History


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Five different players scored in double figures as the Lincoln women's basketball team beat Blackburn, 91-35, on Monday evening (Nov. 26). The victory improved Lincoln to 5-0 for the first time in program history, and gives LU its first 3-0 record in home games since 1995-96.

The Blue Tigers shot .506 from the floor and were 9-for-9 at the line while out-rebounding the Beavers, 55-23. 68 of Lincoln's points came in the paint, compared to just six for Blackburn (1-3), and LU tallied 18 steals and scored 14 fast-break points.

Tempary Gunter and Zoi Thompson each scored 20 points, with Gunter also grabbing six rebounds and Thompson dishing eight assists. Zhanesha Dickerson recorded her fourth double-double in as many games, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.

Alecia Kaelke came close to a double-double of her own, tallying 14 points and nine boards while also contributing five steals and a block. Shannyn Triplett closed out LU's double figure scorers with 10 points, two steals, an assist and a rebound.

Alecia Gulledge led all players with 18 rebounds, and scored eight points to go with five steals and a pair of assists. Kiara Shoulders, meanwhile, closed out Lincoln's scoring with four points and added five boards, five assists and three steals.

Lincoln will try to continue its historic start to the season on Saturday (Dec. 1) when the Blue Tigers host Robert Morris-Springfield for a 6:00 p.m. CST contest.
