JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team tallied 15 steals and out-rebounded Stephens, 56-26, en route to a 79-34 victory on Tuesday night (Nov. 13). The win improved Lincoln to 3-0 on the season for the first time since 2015-16, and was the Blue Tigers' biggest margin of victory since an 81-24 win over Stephens in 2011-12.
Two Blue Tigers doubled up, with
Zhanesha Dickerson grabbing 12 rebounds to go with 13 points, four assists and a pair of takeaways while
Kiara Shoulders finished with 11 points and 10 boards.
Zoi Thompson also filled up the stat sheet, leading LU with 19 points, nine steals and seven assists while also grabbing nine rebounds.
Lincoln jumped out to an 18-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, and held Stephens (0-4) to just 14 total points in the second half. LU allowed SC to shoot just .261 for the contest, including just .238 from three-point range, and pulled down 26 offensive rebounds while giving up only seven. Lincoln shot .423 from the floor and forced Stephens into 24 turnovers.
Five Blue Tigers scored in double figures while another,
Alecia Gulledge, tied for the team-high with 12 rebounds. Gulledge also chipped in six points and tallied a pair of steals.
Alecia Kaelke, meanwhile, came off the bench to score 13 points and pull down eight rebounds.
Tempary Gunter made three treys in a fourth quarter in which LU out-scored Stephens, 26-7. For the game, Gunter had 17 points, five boards, an assist and a steal.
The Blue Tigers will next play on Wednesday, Nov. 21, when Lincoln hosts McKendree for a 6:00 p.m. CST contest.
