NSU Uses Long Ball to Beat the Blue Tigers


ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Northeastern State broke out the long ball, using multiple homeruns to hand the Lincoln softball team a pair of losses on Friday (March 31). The RiverHawks took the first game, 14-0, and won the second, 14-1.

In the nightcap, Mykenzie Livesay and Macie Kinsey each had hits for LU, with Kinsey also providing the RBI. Kiley Kerr scored in the bottom of the first after reaching on an error while Chelsey Kerr was issued a walk to ultimately load the bases.

Between the two games, Northeastern State hit seven homeruns, and finished with 25 total hits. Chelsey Kerr and Macie Kinsey each had two hits apiece in the opener, while Jordan Lawson and Maci Marshall also had hits during the twinbill.

Madison Ragar, Kinsey and Sarah Westhoff combined for four strikeouts in the circle while Tori Nienhueser led the LU defense with nine total putouts. Livesay provided three assists.

Lincoln will remain in St. Charles for a pair of neutral site night games against Central Oklahoma on Saturday (April 1) beginning at 5:30 p.m. CDT.
