JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Six Blue Tigers scored in double figures and the Lincoln men's basketball team forced 20 turnovers en route to a 96-64 victory over Robert Morris-Peoria on Saturday (Dec. 30).
For the third-straight year, Lincoln closed a calendar year with a victory as the Blue Tigers shot .614 from the floor and .870 from the free throw line. The Blue Tigers posted a 39-16 advantage in rebounding over the Eagles and recorded 14 steals while also shooting .400 from beyond the arc. Lincoln scored 48 points in both halves while holding Robert Morris-Peoria (2-15) to just 28 points over the game's first 20 minutes.
Terrance Smith led Lincoln (6-7) with 18 points and contributed three rebounds, three steals and a block to the winning effort. Amariontez Ivory was next on the scoring chart with 16 points and dished two assists to go with two boards and a pair of steals. Grant Olsson, meanwhile, led LU with eight rebounds and scored 12 points.
Calvin Chambers also chipped in 12 points and dished a team-high five assists to go with two steals and three rebounds. Rounding out Lincoln's double-digit scorers were Paris Parham with 11 points and four rebounds and Maurice Mason with 10 points, five boards, four assists and a pair of steals. Marquise Williams, meanwhile, finished with seven points and five boards.
Donte Makazu came off the bench to score six points, and
Alexander Nailes and John Burton each provided two points and two rebounds. Nailes additionally tallied two steals. Destiny Chikwem-Stanley and
Darrius Spencer each grabbed a rebound, with Chikwem-Stanley also dishing an assist.
With the 2017 portion of it schedule complete, Lincoln will now turn its attention to 2018, which the Blue Tigers open on Thursday (Jan. 4) in Edmond, Okla. LU will take on Central Oklahoma, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. CST.
