EDMOND, Okla. - John Burton, Amariontez Ivory and Maurice Mason all reached double figures, but the Lincoln men's basketball team fell to Central Oklahoma, 76-65, on Thursday (Jan. 4).
Burton led the Blue Tigers with 17 points, Ivory added 14 and Mason, who has reached double digits in every game in 2017-18, did so again with 10 against the Bronchos. Mason additionally tied for LU's team-lead with four assists.
Marquise Williams and Terrance Smith each chipped in six points, with Williams also tallying six rebounds and three assists. Smith grabbed four boards, and both players had a block.
Lincoln (6-8, 0-5 MIAA) took the lead four times in the first half, and trailed by just four with four minutes until the break. Central Oklahoma went on an 8-0 run that was broken up by a Calvin Chambers layup, and led the Blue Tigers, 41-31, at halftime. A Burton trey would pull LU back within five, 62-57, with just over five minutes left in the contest, but UCO scored seven straight to hold on for the win.
Chambers dished four assists to go with four points, while Grant Olsson finished with five points and four boards.
Darrius Spencer closed out the scoring with three points, and
Alexander Nailes rounded out the Blue Tigers with a rebound.
Lincoln next heads to Tahlequah, Okla. on Saturday (Jan. 6) to continue MIAA play against Northeastern State in a 3:30 p.m. CST contest.
