COLUMBIA, Mo. - Cold shooting and turnovers hurt the Lincoln women's basketball team in a 59-43 loss to Stephens on Tuesday night (Nov. 21).
The Blue Tigers shot .239 from the floor and committed 15 turnovers, while the Stars were .415 from the floor for the contest. Lincoln (2-3) forced Stephens (2-4) into 16 turnovers, and blocked three shots while recording eight steals.
Despite the cold shooting, Lincoln trailed just 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, and rallied to tied the game at 25 at the half. A late run by LU sent the game into the fourth with the Stars clinging to a one-point lead, but Stephens held the Blue Tigers to just four points over the final 10 minutes.
Naomi Bryant led LU with 13 points, and Bre Coleman scored six to go with a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks.
Tempary Gunter pulled down seven rebounds and Citlali Lopez was next with five. Tyler Brown-Henderson provided four points and five rebounds.
Lincoln will travel to St. Louis, Mo. on Saturday (Nov. 25) to play Missouri-St. Louis at 1:00 p.m. CST.
