Blue Tigers Rebound To Beat Peru State, 63-51


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln women's basketball team out-rebounded Peru State, 48-28, and shot .486 from the floor in the second half en route to a 63-51 victory on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 19).

Four Blue Tigers scored in double figures, including Lajanea Kimbrough, who totaled 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Citlali Lopez also had 11 points and seven boards, while Faith Brintle tallied 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Bre Coleman added 10 points and four rebounds.

Lincoln (2-2) held the Bobcats to just two points in the opening quarter, but Peru State (3-4) out-scored LU by four in the second period to cut the Blue Tiger lead down to 22-16 at halftime. Peru State closed the gap down to four early in the third, and used a three-pointer to pull within 25-24 at the 8:35 mark. Brintle hit a trey on the other end of the court, and a layup by Kimbrough pushed Lincoln onto a 12-0 run to take control of the game.

Naomi Bryant added seven points, four rebounds and three assists to the Blue Tiger cause, and Tempary Gunter contributed seven points and five boards. Tyler Brown-Henderson (four points, three rebounds) and Alecia Kaelke (two points, three rebounds) rounded out the scoring.

Kailey Foster dished a pair of assists, Karissa Black pulled down three rebounds and Charnai Anderson had a block. Robin Butler, meanwhile, finished with five boards and Davenport Brantley grabbed two. Amber Braxton also had a rebound for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln will be on the road for its next contest, as the Blue Tigers make the short trip up to Columbia, Mo. to face Stephens on Tuesday (Nov. 21) in a 7:00 p.m. CST showdown.
