BOLIVAR, Mo. - Four Blue Tigers scored in double figures as the Lincoln men's basketball team defeated Oklahoma Baptist, 70-60, on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 11).
Amariontez Ivory led Lincoln with 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Marquise Williams recorded a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. Williams also had a pair of blocks and a steal.
John Burton scored 19, dished a pair of assists and grabbed two rebounds. Terrance Smith, meanwhile, rounded out Lincoln's double-digit scorers with 10 points and five boards.
Lincoln (1-1) held a 37-32 lead at halftime, but shot .579 from the floor and .500 from three-point range over the course of the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win. LU led by as many as 16 with 8:16 to play, but Oklahoma Baptist (0-2) closed the game on a 9-3 run.
Both teams finished with 34 rebounds, but Lincoln forced 12 turnovers while committing just nine. The Blue Tigers additionally held the Bison to .350 shooting overall and a .241 clip from long distance.
Zack Fields provided five points and three assists off the bench, and Calvin Chambers chipped in three points to go with three boards and a team-high five assists. Donte Makazu closed the scoring with two points and an assist.
Lincoln will open its 2017-18 home slate on Tuesday night (Nov. 14) as the Blue Tigers host Missouri S&T at 7:30 p.m. CST.
