ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Timely hitting and a stout defensive effort helped Lindenwood hand the Lincoln baseball team a 10-0 loss on Tuesday (April 19).
Lincoln (1-38, 0-29 MIAA) had its best opportunity to score in the top of the fourth, as
Mike Million hit a one-out triple. The Lions' starting pitcher, Brendan Kleekamp, however, turned in a very strong complete game performance. Kleekamp racked up nine strikeouts, including two in that fourth inning to strand Million on third.
Daniel Castillo, the Blue Tigers' starting pitcher tallied three strikeouts while
Caleb Thomas and
Tyler Roberts each fanned one batter apiece. Lindenwood (17-22, 11-18 MIAA) managed to get 11 hits, though, and scored multiple runs in the second, third, seventh and eighth frames to end the game an inning early.
Alex Ludwick and
Jeffery Jackson each recorded six putouts, and
Kaleb Davis was next with four. Ludwick also had a pair of assists.
Lincoln will be back on its home field for its next four games, beginning on Friday (April 22) with a 3:00 p.m. CDT contest against Washburn.
