Jasmine Guthrie and
Azaria Nave each scored in double figures, but the Lincoln's basketball team lost to Emporia State, 99-45, on Saturday (Feb. 13).
Emporia State (19-5, 13-5 MIAA) entered as the No. 21 team in the country according to the WBCA/USA Today Division II poll, and looked the part, taking an early 9-0 lead. A trey from Nave helped LU close the gap to 16-9 with 2:37 to play in the period, but the Lady Hornets finished the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 25-11 advantage. ESU held the Blue Tigers to just nine points in the second quarter and shot .623 from the field for the game while Lincoln shot .358.
Guthrie led Lincoln (8-16, 4-14 MIAA) with 13 points to go with a rebound and a steal while Nave added 11 points, three boards, three steals and an assist.
Dorian Briggs was next on the scoring chart with nine points while
Asia McCaskill added eight and dished two assists.
Narel dos Santos also had three rebounds for Lincoln and tallied a block while
Hunter Yoakum scored two points and dished a pair of assists.
Tempary Gunter also scored two points while
Lizzie Nessling blocked a shot and grabbed two rebounds.
Sarah Neptune also had a rebound in Saturday's game.
The Blue Tigers will be back on the road for their next two games, starting on Thursday (Feb. 18) with a 5:30 p.m. CST contest at Nebraska-Kearney.
