Sheena Dean joined the Lincoln University Athletic Department in April of 2025 and is in her first year serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance with the Blue Tigers.
Dean came to Lincoln following after working as a post-graduate intern for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Dean worked in the compliance office at the NCAA, reviewing potential violations and working with officials at other universities to perform inquiries and ensure that their programs were following the appropriate guidelines. Dean helped work with the NCAA on cases involving multiple violation levels and had the opportunity to become very knowledgeable about the nuances involved in compliance.
Prior to her work at the NCAA, Dean served as a compliance and championship intern with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, overseeing the conference's academic awards and helping to ensure that members of the NCAA Division I league were in compliance with both NCAA and MEAC guidelines. Dean served as the co-coordinator for the MEAC Student Athlete Advisory Committee and helped create materials to mentor others on the NCAA rules.
She got her start working in compliance as a student at North Carolina Central, working in various departments across campus before becoming a graduate assistant in the athletic department's compliance office. Dean additionally worked at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as an intern, working to educate others through the development of training materials and the facilitation of networking opportunities.
Dean graduated from North Carolina Central University in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in political science and earned a master's degree from NCCUÂ in 2024.
