Rob McDonald


Rob McDonald is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Lincoln women's basketball team. McDonald assists in all facets of the program, including game planning, film review and recruiting.

In his first year at Lincoln in 2020-21, McDonald worked with Niyah Jackson, who ended up earning All-MIAA accolades. McDonald's leadership helped LU finish second in the MIAA in turnovers forced and sixth in steals. Offensively, Lincoln made 318 free throws, the 12th-most by any NCAA Division II program.

McDonald came to Lincoln from Eastern Florida State College, where he helped the program win a season-record 23 games and finish as the second-highest scoring team in the conference. McDonald coached four players who achieved all-league recognition, including three first team all-conference selections.

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, McDonald had tremendous success coaching at the middle school and high school levels, with three high school semifinal appearances and three middle school Elite Eight finishes. McDonald coached 15 players who were recruited to play at NCAA Division I and Division II programs, and one of his players, Mikyla Tolivert, was named the 2020 Florida Miss Basketball.

McDonald graduated from St. Olaf College in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in studio art. McDonald played both basketball and football at St. Olaf and earned four letters in each sport. He received the Scholar Athlete of the Year award in 2008.
