A man who embodies what it means to be "True Blue," Elijah Mayfield is in his ninth year working in the Lincoln athletic department. He currently serves as the head manager of the LU football and baseball teams.
Mayfield joined the Lincoln men's basketball program as a manager in December of 2017. Mayfield, who has also spent the past four years as a manager with the Blue Tiger football team, is in his second season as the head manager for the LU men's baseball program. Mayfield has spent the last two years as the head manager under head coach Moses Harper, and he was the first manager for the Blue Tiger baseball program when it was revived in 2025.
Mayfield joined Lincoln from Helias Catholic, where he earned seven varsity letters as a manager with the Crusader football, basketball and baseball teams. While he served as manager, Mayfield was a member of two football teams that reached the state championship game and a basketball team that made it to the state final four.
In honor of his dedication and school spirit, the Lincoln Department of Athletics created the Elijah Mayfield True Blue Spirit Award. This award is presented to an athlete from each sport who exemplifies a high level of school spirit and dedication to their team. Â
When he's not helping Lincoln's athletic programs, Mayfield works as a staunch advocate and ambassador for the Down syndrome community. In 2016, he was selected by the National Down Syndrome Society as the "Self Advocate of the Year." In 2018, he was appointed by the governor to serve as a member of the Missouri Governor's Council on Disability.
