Andrew Malson joined the Lincoln football team as the special teams coordinator in the spring of 2022, and is in his second year with the program.
Malson spent the previous three years coaching in the NCAA Division I ranks, most recently working as a special teams analyst and assistant recruiting coordinator at Old Dominion, helping the team end the 2021 season on a five-game winning streak to earn a berth in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. A graduate of Westminster, Malson is also familiar with both Missouri and the MIAA, as he began his coaching career as a defensive assistant at Missouri Western and has served on the staff at his alma mater.
A veteran coach, Malson has experience coaching in all three facets of the game, including serving as the offensive coordinator at Westminster in 2016, leading a group that finished third in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in total offense and second in rushing. Malson became the defensive coordinator at Fairleigh Dickinson the following year, where he coached first team All-American linebacker Isaiah Turner. In 2018, Malson's defense finished second in Mid-Atlantic Conference against the run, and 14th in NCAA Division III in sacks.
In 2019, Malson joined the NCAA Division I ranks, as he joined Stony Brook as a defensive assistant. Malson coached the outside linebackers and assisted with the inside linebackers. He also handled opponent breakdowns, and helped the Seawolves upset No. 5 Villanova on the road that season.
Malson initially broke into the NCAA Division I level in 2012, as he was a graduate assistant and assistant defensive line coach at Western Michigan. Malson spent the next three years working at the United State Merchant Marine Academy, coaching the defensive backs and outside linebackers. In 2015, the Midshipmen finished fourth in the nation in total defense.Â
Malson earned bachelor's degree in physical education from Westminster in 2008, and a master's degree in sports management from Missouri Baptist in 2015.
