SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Lincoln women's soccer scored a second half goal, but the Blue Tigers dropped a 5-1 decision to Illinois-Springfield in the GLVC opener for both programs on Saturday night (Sept. 5).
Illinois-Springfield (3-1, 1-0 GLVC) scored in both the 16th and 26th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but the Blue Tigers cut their deficit down to one early in the second half. In the 54th minute, following a corner kick,
Mia Greathouse passed the ball to
TeTee Jallah, who shot it past the UIS keeper to pull Lincoln (1-2, 0-1 GLVC) within one.
The Prairie Stars finished with 15 total shots, however, including one in the 59th minute that gave UIS back a two-goal lead.
Kristin Oliver made six saves while
Leah Serritos had a shot on goal.
Sofia Valdivia also had a shot attempt.
Lincoln will host McKendree on Wednesday evening (Sept. 9) at 5:00 p.m. CDT at Capital City High School.
