Lincoln Remains Undefeated Wtih 3-1 Victory Over the Bearcats

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Jonathan Nemorden scored a pair of goals as the Lincoln men's soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the season by beating Southwest Baptist, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 13).

Nemorden's first goal came in the 15th minute off a crossing pass from Jerome Lawel. Later in the opening half, Nemorden again found the back of the net after taking a pass from Junior Grizzelle, who drew the goalie's attention to allow Lincoln (2-0-2, 1-0-1 GLVC) to take a 2-0 lead.

The score would remain 2-0 until the 81st minute, when a ball deflected off a Bearcat player straight to Jaden Grant, giving him a wide-open look at the goal. Grant's shot made it 3-0, though Southwest Baptist (3-1-1, 0-1-1 GLVC) would eventually get on the board in the 85th minute.

The Blue Tigers finished with a 14-13 advantage on total shots, though the Bearcats held an 8-6 edge on shots on goal. Vincent Osei made seven saves, including one on a penalty kick in the final minutes that kept SBU's deficit at two. Nemorden had three total shot attempts, as did Shadrack Eshun, who also had a shot on goal.

Makwe Nkoana had a shot on the net and matched Lawel with two total shot attempts. Theon Cupee had LU's other shot on the net, and Grizelle and Haru Ito each attempted on shot.

Lincoln continues its season on Wednesday (Sept.16) with a trip to Fayette, Iowa to face Upper Iowa at 2:30 p.m. CDT.
