ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team notched eight hits, but fell to Maryville, 12-2, in the final game of a four-game series on Sunday (March 8).
Both of LU's runs came in the top of the second, as
Tim Fleming hit a two-run homer in the second at-bat of the frame. The inning began with
Hunter Mitchell knocking a base hit into left field. The third batter for Lincoln (3-11, 0-4 GLVC),
Nolan Laughlin, also singled. Laughlin eventually reached third base, but Maryville (8-9, 4-0 GLVC) recorded a strikeout to end the inning.
Laughlin led the Blue Tigers with two hits while
Devin Hardy,
Andy Srebroski IV,
Jayden Little and
Easton Stuckenschneider each had one.
Kooper Houvouras struck out two Saint batters while
Ryan Lepper and
Ronan Podhola also each had a strikeout. Laughlin finished with a team-high five putouts and Mitchell and
Chase Morris each recorded three. Laughlin and Mitchell both turned two assists.
Lincoln travels to Marshall, Mo. to play Missouri Valley on Tuesday (March 10) in a single game at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
