JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Lincoln baseball team and Drury closed their season four-game series on Sunday (March 29) with the Panthers outlasting the Blue Tigers, 18-6.
Nolan Laughlin drove in LU's first run of the day on a hit into right field that allowed
Tim Fleming to score.
Easton Stuckenschneider later scored on a passed ball to give the Blue Tigers a 2-1 lead entering the top of the second inning.
Drury (17-12, 8-4 GLVC) took advantage of three hits and an error to plate five runs in the second, and the Panthers held onto the lead the rest of the way.
Aidan Streight got an RBI with a bases-load walk that scored Lauglin for LU's third run. In the seventh frame, Streight scored on a fielding error and
Jacob Schulte returned home thanks to a ground out by
Jayden Little. Another ground out brought in
Andy Srebroski IV for LU's final run of the day.
Laughlin had two hits for Lincoln (6-20, 0-12 GLVC) while
Daren Walters-Ansell and
Chase Morris each had one.
Jonah Claborn,
Kooper Houvouras and
Ryan Lepper each struck out Drury batters. Little recorded six putouts, Srebroski added four and Laughlin provided three. Srebroski, Walters-Ansell, Morris and
Blythe Blakey had two assists apiece.
Next weekend, the Blue Tigers will travel to Kansas City, Mo. for a four-game series against Rockhurst. The Blue Tigers and the Hawks will meet for a single game on Thursday evening (April 2) at 6:00 p.m. CDT. On Friday (April 3), the teams will play a double-header, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CDT. The series will end on Saturday (April 4) with a single contest at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
