Blue Tigers Ride Big Second Half to a 93-79 Win Over Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Lincoln men's basketball team shot an impressive .654 overall and .556 from beyond the arc during the second half to beat Truman State, 93-79, on the road on Saturday (Feb. 14).

Three Blue Tigers scored at least 20 points, including Tyler Chapman, who ended the afternoon with 29 points, five assists, three rebounds and a block. Max Ekono came close to a triple-double, as he supplied 21 points, nine boards, seven assists and a steal. Malcolm Davis, meanwhile, provided 22 points, four assists and two rebounds to the winning cause.

Despite the Blue Tigers shooting .536 from the field in the first half, Truman State (10-14, 7-9 GLVC) entered halftime with a slim 41-39 lead. The second half, however, belonged to Lincoln (11-14, 5-12 GLVC), as the Blue Tigers scored 54 points and used a 12-2 run to take an 82-67 advantage with 4:55 to play. The Bulldogs never got closer than within 11 afterwards, thanks in part to the Blue Tigers shooting 15-for-16 at the free throw line during the contest's final 20 minutes.

Lincoln finished the day shooting .593 from the floor and .500 from three-point distance while holding a dominant advantage of 37-15 in rebounding. LU also scored 11 points off nine Truman State turnovers and allowed the Bulldogs to make only nine of their 19 attempts from downtown.

Matthieu Biembongo nearly had a double-double, as he ended the day with eight points, 10 boards and a block. D'Necco Rucker added five points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal to the Lincoln effort, and Rashad Williams blocked a shot, chipped in four points and collected three rebounds.

Amar Kadic and Robin Discamps each scored two points while Sterling Rivera grabbed two rebounds. Elliott Yorke, Jr. also had a steal for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln returns home to host William Jewell on Thursday night (Feb. 19) at 7:30 p.m. CST.
