Mikey West scored 21 points, Frank Yetna nearly had a double-double and two other members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures as the Blue Tigers beat Illinois-Springfield, 75-60, on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 1).
West also dished three assists and had a steal to go with five rebounds while Yetna ended the day with 14 points, nine boards, an assist and a steal.
Tyler Chapman filled the stat sheet with 19 points, three assists, two rebounds, a pair of steals and a block.
Malcolm Davis, meanwhile, finished with 10 points, five boards and a steal.
Lincoln (14-6, 6-6 GLVC) improved to 10-3 in Jason Gym this season after shooting .443 from the field and forcing UIS into 10 turnovers. LU held the Prairie Stars to .222 shooting from long distance and won the battle on the glass, 37-25. The Blue Tigers led from start to finish, going up by as many as 17 in the second half, with three players (Yetna, West and Chapman) making seven field goals.Â
Andreas Fuller came off the bench to provide five points, six rebounds and an assist to the winning cause while
Max Ekono added four points, four rebounds and a steal.
Matthieu Biembongo closed the scoring with two points and a rebound, and
Youssouf Timera also pulled down a rebound.
The Blue Tigers are on the road for their next two games, beginning on Thursday (Feb. 1) with a trip to Fayette, Iowa to play Upper Iowa at 7:00 p.m. CST.
