JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -
Joseph Lozano scored three goals to lead the Lincoln men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Missouri S&T in the GLVC Championship Quarterfinals on Sunday (Nov. 9).
A pass from
Christopher Hull set up Lozano's first goal in the 38th minute, giving Lincoln (11-0-6) a 1-0 lead at halftime. The Blue Tigers outshot Missouri S&T (9-6-3), 24-11, and had 13 shots on goal compared to six for the Miners. Lincoln also held an 11-5 advantage on corner kick opportunities.
Lozano sent the ball high past the keeper in the 61st minute to make it a 2-0 contest, then later achieved the hat trick with LU's final goal in the 83rd minute.
Theon Cupee had the other goal for Lincoln, scoring in the 68th minute off a pass by
Akwasi Agyepong.
Santiago Brisco and
Adam Benrahou also had assists in Lincoln's win.
VIncent Osei made six saves to preserve Lincoln's shutout.
Nkouka Loubassou and
Rajae Lawrence each recorded four shot attempts, with Loubassou tallying three on goal and Lawrence notching two. Lozano also had four shots while Hull had two shots on goal and three shots total.
Makwe Nkoana also ended the day with three total shots and two on the net.
Benrahou had two shots on goal and Brisco added two shot attempts while Agyepong notched a shot on goal.
Jorge Arevalo tried two shots while
Kevon Maitland and
Adam Griffiths each attempted one.
Lincoln now advances to the GLVC Championship Semifinals, where it will face either McKendree or Drury at Creve Coeur Soccer Field in St. Louis, Mo. on Thursday (Nov. 13) at 7:00 p.m. CST.
