Hornets Edge Blue Tigers, 92-90


KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Four members of the Lincoln men's basketball team scored in double figures, but Emporia State won, 92-90, in a high-scoring affair played at Avila University on Saturday (Nov. 22).

Facing a nine-point deficit with just over three minutes remaining, Solomon Oraegbu hit a layup and later made two shots at the free throw line to bring LU back within 83-78 of the Hornets. Oraegbu, who finished with 15 points, has now made all 33 of his free throw attempts in 2025-26. Oraegbu also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal on Saturday.

After the two teams exchanged free throws, Tyler Chapman drained a three to pull Lincoln (3-1) within 84-82 of Emporia State (2-2). The Hornets made four-consecutive free throws to regain a six-point advantage, but Oraegbu cut the deficit down to four with two more baskets at the line. With under 10 ticks left on the clock, Chapman made another trey to make the score 90-87 in favor of the Hornets, but ESU made a pair of free throws to essentially end the game. Chapman made another three as the last seconds ticked off the clock for the 92-90 final.

Chapman connected on six treys and led all scorers with 22 points while also dishing a team-high five assists, blocking a shot, grabbing two rebounds and notching a steal. Malcolm Davis drained five triples to finish with 15 points, five boards, four assists and three steals. Enari Thomas also finished in double digits, tallying 11 points, five boards, an assist and a steal.

Robin Discamps came off the bench to supply five points, three assists and a rebound while Matthieu Biembongo and Max Ekono each chipped in six points. Biembongo additionally had a team-high three blocks to go with four rebounds and an assist. Ekono, meanwhile, tallied three rebounds and three assists.

Amar Kadic provided four points and two boards to the Blue Tiger cause, and D'Necco Rucker added four points, a rebound and an assist. Tyler Lucas rounded out the scoring with two points and an assist while Rashad Williams collected two rebounds.

Lincoln will be off until next Saturday (Nov. 29), when the Blue Tigers host Southwest Baptist in their GLVC opener. Tip-off in Jason Gym is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CST.
