Bella Borgos poured in 23 points and
Laini Joseph added 17 as the Lincoln women's basketball team beat Harris Stowe, 82-45, in a battle between the two HBCU schools in the state of Missouri on Thursday night (Nov. 20).
The Blue Tigers shot .492 overall and .500 from three-point range while finishing with a 32-26 edge in rebounding. Lincoln (2-2) forced Harris Stowe (0-5) into 21 turnovers as the Blue Tigers never trailed in the contest. LU pulled away in the second quarter by out-scoring the Hornets, 25-7, and finished the night strong with 22 points in the final period.
Joseph led LU with eight rebounds and had a pair of steals to go with two assists.
Isis Sanders finished with a team-high four steals and chipped in eight points to go with two rebounds and a pair of assists. Borgos pulled down five rebounds and added a steal and an assist.
Aaliyah Smith came off the bench to provide nine points, three boards and two blocks while
Hallie Williamson contributed eight points, an assist and a rebound to the winning cause.
Taelyn Smith led the Blue Tigers with four assists and tallied seven points, two boards and a steal.
Chase Giddings had three assists and three rebounds as well as a steal and six points while
Kaleah Toran closed the scoring with four points, two takeaways, two assists and two rebounds.Â
Kennedy Jones provided three rebounds, an assist and a steal to the Blue Tiger effort while
Anjelle Kerr rounded out LU with a rebound.
Lincoln travels to Maryville, Mo. on Saturday (Nov. 22) to play Northwest Missouri at 1:00 p.m. CST.
