Maitland Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Year; LU Places 5 on All-GLVC Team


INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Lincoln men's soccer senior Kevon Maitland was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year while five total spots on the All-GLVC team went to Blue Tigers. The conference office announced its men's soccer postseason honors on Tuesday (Nov. 11).

Maitland, who was also named All-GLVC first team, becomes the first-ever Blue Tiger to be selected as conference offensive player of the year. Maitland led the GLVC in total points (20) and tied for first with four game-winning goals. In league matches, Maitland led the GLVC with eight goals and tied for third in assists with four. 

Christopher Hull accomplished the rare feat of being named All-GLVC second team as both a forward and a midfielder. With four goals and four assists, Hull finished second among the Blue Tigers with 12 points. Two of his goals were game-winners, tying him for 10th in the league.

Adam Griffiths was named to the All-GLVC second team as a defender while Vincent Osei was the All-GLVC second team goalkeeper. Lincoln, which ended the regular season with a 10-0-6 record, is 43rd nationally in shutout percentage and 19th in save percentage. In addition to helping Lincoln go undefeated during the regular season, Griffiths supplied three assists. Osei, meanwhile, finished 30th overall and second in the league with a .802 save percentage while his 4.1 saves per match ranked third in the conference.Osei made 65 saves, the third-most in the GLVC and the 33rd-most in Division II.

The GLVC also announced that Rajae Lawrence was selected as one of its James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees.
