Jareese Howard scored on a 53-yard run, but the Lincoln football team fell to Indianapolis, 62-7, on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 18).
Howard's run came in the second quarter after a 12-yard reception by
Israel Tate moved LU to its own 47-yard line. Indianapolis (7-1, 5-0 GLVC), which entered the weekend ranked No. 15 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II poll, scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and held Lincoln (2-5, 0-4 GLVC) out of the end zone in the second half.
Jaylen Thomas passed for 27 yards and Howard led Lincoln with 67 rushing yards.
Max Roth had two punts pin the Greyhounds inside their own 20 and averaged 37.2 yards per kick.
Armani Turner gained 42 yards on three kick returns while
Luka Sari averaged 65.0 yards on kickoffs.
Leroy Tellis led the Blue Tiger defense with eight tackles and a pair of broken up passes while
Nate Harden and
Qwalan Miller each made seven tackles.
Jacob McGhee recorded a sack and
Michael Allen, who notched five tackles, added 1.5 tackles for loss.
Andrew Sourinhaphong added six tackles and joined
J'Addison Brown,
Jeremiah Gill,
TJ Mitchell and
Ashaun Moore with 0.5 tackles for loss apiece.
Lincoln remains on the road next Saturday (Oct. 25), as the Blue Tigers visit Lebanon, Ill. to play McKendree at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
