Isis Sanders and
Ayreona Carter combined to score 20 points, but the Lincoln women's basketball team fell to Quincy, 80-49, in its first game of 2025 on Friday (Jan. 3).
Sanders and Carter each scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds, with Sanders additionally dishing two assists to go with a pair of steals. Carter blocked a shot while
Hanne Nybo, who had two blocks on the evening, scored seven points to go with two boards and a steal.
Lincoln (1-10, 0-5 GLVC) shot .818 at the free throw line, capitalizing on nine of its 11 opportunities, but was held to just .333 shooting for the contest. The Blue Tigers forced the Hawks into 14 turnovers, but Quincy (8-5, 2-2 GLVC) scored 43 first half points and owned a 40-29 advantage in rebounding, leading to QU earning the home win.Â
Kiara Cabrera came off the bench to provide eight points to go with two rebounds and a steal while
Biance Stocks finished the night with six points, a steal, and four rebounds.
Emma Wolken made a three-pointer and collected three rebounds while
Chase Giddings added three points, two assists, a steal and a board to the Blue Tiger cause.Â
Kaleah Toran also tallied two assists and pulled down three rebounds.
Kennedy Jones closed the scoring with two points and a pair of rebounds.
Lyssa Sportsman, meanwhile, secured three rebounds.
Due to forecasts calling for a snowstorm this weekend, the Blue Tigers' next game will be played on Monday (Jan. 6). Lincoln heads to Kirksville, Mo. to play Truman State in a 1:00 p.m. CST contest.
